Saudi Arabia
Megaproject: luxury resort
Qiddiya is a major entertainment and sports project currently being developed in Saudi Arabia, located about 40 km from the capital city of Riyadh. It’s one of the key initiatives in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan.
The new city covers about 334 square kilometers and is planned to include theme parks, sports arenas, motor sports facilities, and a variety of cultural events and activities. This project focused on the hospitality segment of the mega-project.
FACADE DESIGN
Inspired by the neighboring waterpark’s fluidity and the energy of the Formula 1 race track that passes beneath the building, the facade design offers a distinctive experience for the public. The architecture echoes the race track’s layout, splitting into two towers and incorporating a central void that symbolizes the rapid motion of a vortex.
The three concepts below unite aesthetics and function, creating a building that is more than a structure, but a responsive blend of its surroundings and the needs of its inhabitants.
-
RHYTHM
Echoes the energetic language of the F1 track
-
VORTEX
Reacts to the acceleration of the F1 track, creating a vacuum-like form.
-
FLOW
Considers the adjacent waterpark, merging aquatic fluidity with high octane racing
